Paralegal – Secured Recoveries, Manchester

A talented and enthusiastic Paralegal or Legal Assistant is now required by our progressive client in central Manchester. They are a successful and specialist private practice law firm specialising in Secured and Non-secured Recoveries.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Paralegal or Legal Assistant for our client. The role will be based within their specialist department which looks after Secured Recoveries including Mortgage Repossessions. The role will involve providing technical and practical support in dealing with debt recovery and litigation actions on behalf of their clients.

Suitable candidates must have a minimum of twelve months to two years Debt Recovery/ Litigation experience as a Paralegal or Legal Executive within a law firm and will be confident in handling their own files and working with modest supervision. Experience of debt recovery/ civil court practice and knowledge of regulatory requirements within a Credit/ Collections environment particularly in relation to mortgage repossessions would be an advantage.

The role will include:

Administrative tasks relating to transactions

Working closely with other fee-earners, researching and analysing data

Opening files and preparing case notes

Drafting documents

Client liaison and communication in person regarding financial situation, by email and on the phone

Taking ownership of cases and working with minimal supervision

Court work including preparing writs, obtaining court orders and arranging eviction dates, attending hearings etc

Skills required

Good IT skills including Word and Excel

Excellent communication skills

Highly organised and efficient

An effective Team Player

Strong time management skills

Good academic record
